Enhancing Visitor Experience in the Downtown

Idea:

Coordinate with the City, Businesses, Museums and the School Administration at the High School, MCC and/or UML to develop an application that would provide visitors with WiFi access to a menu-driven insight to attractions in the downtown, including directions to selected places of interest. It would be a real-time alternate to brochures, which are costly [Read more…]

Benefit:

Visitors (and many residents) would have instant access to the location of places of interest, including hours of operation and links to business websites for more detailed information, such as menus for restaurants.

Location:

Downtown / JAM, OldIdea.

Canalside Dining

Idea:

A special dining event! Use Lucy Larcom Park or another canalside space to set up tables for one evening. Benefit:

This would bring additional exposure to downtown restaurants and to Lowell's underutilized canalside space. It might inspire more use from the former Sun printing building. People may try a new restaurant if it's in a fun new context and want to visit their bricks-and-mortar establishment if they like it.

Location:

Downtown / JAM, OldIdea.

We are proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of organizations by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier.

Most DIY Lowell annual events are free, but often have a suggested donation. No donation is suggested for EBT, WIC, or ConnectorCare cardholders. See the complete list of participating organizations offering EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare discounts.

This program is supported in part by a grant from MassHumanities; in part by the City of Lowell; and in part by the following Comet-level sponsors:
