Robeson Street Beautification

Idea:

Work with Lowell Transitional Living Center, Mill No. 5, and others to brighten up the alley behind Mill No. 5. Disposable Camera Project

Idea:

Distribute cameras to people in Lowell and ask them to share their experiences through photography. It could be one group of people, for example children, seniors, unhoused people, or newcomers to Lowell. Or it could be about finding a bunch of different perspectives!

Benefit:

It’s an exercise in empathy and a chance to see the world from different angles. Photos could be displayed in a park on a board under plastic sheeting.

1970s Hair Salon Pop Up

Idea:

544 Merrimack St has a vacant first floor retail space that was once Vogue II Hair Salon. All of the equipment is still there. I want to work with the property owners and hair stylist to pull it off! Card to Culture

We are proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of organizations by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier.

Most DIY Lowell annual events are free, but often have a suggested donation. No donation is suggested for EBT, WIC, or ConnectorCare cardholders. See the complete list of participating organizations offering EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare discounts.

Special Thanks

This program is funded in part by a grant from the Lowell Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. We also express our sincere gratitude to our Cornerstone Partners:
