“Lowell Land” Temporary Theme Park

Idea:

Make a mini-theme park in Lowell, kids suggested making a Disney theme park or a Super Mario park. This could be built to last for a day or for a little while. This could include a pop-up maze, games, and other safe and fun activities.

Benefit:

A kid's idea! This would be fun for kids and they wouldn't have to leave Lowell to have fun.

Make Your Own Ice Cream

Idea:

Have a festival or party all about ice cream! Use old-fashioned ice cream crank style makers – make several kinds of ice cream. Festival participants can take part in making the ice cream, and there might even be an ice cream tasting contest and music.

Make Lowell Safer, Cleaner, and Drug-Free

Idea:

Clean up the garbage off ground, amke it so people are actually wanting to live in Lowell, and get addicts help.

It will be safer for children and women to live. No one will hate the city and want to leave.

Make Your Own Mill Girl Doll

Idea:

An artist or community member builds a large Lowell Dollhouse: model of a boarding house or of a mill. Mapping Kerouac

Idea:

A series of maps with the trajectory of Kerouac on those places and with quotes from those places. Mexico City, Big Sur, Denver, San Francisco,NY, Lowell Desolation Peak…

Max Solar on LHS

Idea:

Educate folks on solar/green energy and how the new high school is contributing to green building. The Lowell Sustainability Council team along with DIY will collaborate with others to achieve the maximum possible solar production on the new LHS building(s). Idea:

A meditation flash mob is a planned group meditation in public, usually in a busy urban location.

Merrimack St crosswalks

Idea:

Downtown Amesbury commissioned artists to decorate crosswalks. With all of the artists in Lowell and all of the grant money the city got, this project could easily get done.

Benefit:

It would help beautify Merrimack St which is the heart of downtown. Downtown is in serious need of a clean up and beautification.

Middle St Al Fresco

Idea:

Allow sidewalk dining on Middle St across from Fuse Bistro. Build a parklet in front the building to show that the ground floor space is in too good of a location to be wasted as office space. Let's make Middle Street THE dining spot in greater Lowell and make it known that ground floor residential and office space in DTL has a negative effect on business. This will show potential restaurant investors what is possible in that location.

Mill City Movement

Idea:

Always free, year round all-inclusive fitness movement. Meets outdoors and workout are based on the surrounding – the city is our playground. See “November Project” – look it up online. I want to create a pledge tribe.

Benefit:

Build community and connections between residents of all occupations, ages, races, economic backgrounds, etc. in a way that promotes a healthy lifestyle (taking time to workout and prioritize fitness while also getting a healthy dose of socializing and accountability).
