Start a campaign to promote recycling

Idea:

Start a campaign to require recycling in residential apartments and/or local businesses. Also work on getting more recycling bins downtown to support the foot traffic of Lowell music festivals.

Benefit:

Cleaner Lowell and raised awareness for benefits of citywide recycling.

Location:

Citywide, OldIdea.

Reiki Image Proliferation

Idea:

I would use the $1000 to produce banners bearing Advanced Reiki energy medicine symbols, and place them on lightposts in areas of Lowell. I would look into commissioning murals bearing Reiki symbols. And I would have medium sized boulders bearing Advanced Reiki symbols placed in public parks.

Benefit:

These symbols are said to enhance flow of energy, justice and cheer, improve the image of a place or person or thing, and to spread knowledge. I would love to work with DIY for these projects even if my proposal is not chosen, as I believe it is valuable to [Read more…]

Card to Culture

We are proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of organizations by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier.

Most DIY Lowell annual events are free, but often have a suggested donation. No donation is suggested for EBT, WIC, or ConnectorCare cardholders. See the complete list of participating organizations offering EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare discounts.
