Tiny Music Park(ing) Day Stage

Idea:

Just like park(ing)day, but with musicians and bands! We create the stage and set-up and get the permits, and we do outreach to musicians, bands, poets, to do open-mic style entertainment. Donations could provide stipends for entertainers. This could tie into a Park(ing) Day 2.0–since they figured out logistics and materials last year, there’s more [Read more…]

Benefit:

Free music, happiness spreading! 🙂

Lowell Graffiti Wall

Idea:

When I was in Brussels, Belgium they had a wooden wall against a building specifically for graffiti art, ever changing. Make designated areas around Lowell and turn areas into themed art. Make it into a tourist walk. One wall might be themed “Lowell History” or “The Enviornment” etc.

Benefit:

People can walk and see Lowell. Artists can express themselves and create beautiful, ever-changing pieces. In Brussels, it reduced the bad graffiti.

Location:

Citywide, OldIdea.

Card to Culture

We are proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of organizations by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier.

Most DIY Lowell annual events are free, but often have a suggested donation. No donation is suggested for EBT, WIC, or ConnectorCare cardholders. See the complete list of participating organizations offering EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare discounts.

Special Thanks

This program is funded in part by a grant from the Lowell Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. We also express our sincere gratitude to our Cornerstone Partners:
