Kids’ Painting Day

Idea:

Invite artists and kids to paint together in a park or on a plaza. The artists would give kids tips on how to paint or could even paint together. Later the paintings could be used as public art or the kids could keep the paintings. Kids would get smocks. It would be free.

Benefit:

Painting is fun. Kids would learn a lot from artists.

Location:

Don't Know, OldIdea.

Start a campaign to promote recycling

Idea:

Start a campaign to require recycling in residential apartments and/or local businesses. Also work on getting more recycling bins downtown to support the foot traffic of Lowell music festivals.

Benefit:

Cleaner Lowell and raised awareness for benefits of citywide recycling.

Location:

Citywide, OldIdea.

We are proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of organizations by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier.

Most DIY Lowell annual events are free, but often have a suggested donation. No donation is suggested for EBT, WIC, or ConnectorCare cardholders. See the complete list of participating organizations offering EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare discounts.

This program is supported in part by a grant from MassHumanities; in part by the City of Lowell; and in part by the following Comet-level sponsors:
