Get Involved

DIY Lowell is a volunteer-based organization and we have many ways to get involved! Please look through the opportunities below and email info@diylowell.org with interest or any questions.

Submit an Idea

The simplest way to participate in DIY Lowell is to use our Idea Submission Form to submit a small-scale project or event idea. We collect these ideas throughout the year and put them up for a vote once a year. Anyone who pledges to help can vote. Even if your idea is only half-developed, we encourage you to submit it–it will inspire more people to add onto it and might end up being the next great thing in Lowell.

Project Teams

Our core program involves community volunteers forming Project Teams to make fun projects and events happen. We start two to three new teams every year. Each team is guided by a skilled facilitator, and joining a team means making new friends, helping the community, developing skills, learning about Lowell, and broadening social networks. After a project is done, many teams keep working together, while others break apart to use their skills in new contexts. You can join a team anytime!

Volunteer

DIY Lowell has several ongoing volunteer opportunities if you aren’t interested in a project team! Check them out below! Have a skill or passion that doesn’t fit into a specific role? Let us know how you’d like to contribute! We welcome creative ideas that support DIY Lowell’s mission.

Special Events – One Day Volunteer

Sometimes teams and DIY Lowell have one-day volunteer opportunities! The best way to be alerted to these is to join our mailing list and the Lowell Festival Force! The Lowell Festival Force is a special mailing list filled with cultural festival and event volunteer opportunities and fun ways to earn virtual “badges.”
