DIY Lowell is a volunteer-based organization and we have many ways to get involved!
Submit an Idea
The simplest way to participate in DIY Lowell is to use our Idea Submission Form to submit a small-scale project or event idea. We collect these ideas throughout the year and put them up for a vote once a year. Anyone who pledges to help can vote. Even if your idea is only half-developed, we encourage you to submit it–it will inspire more people to add onto it and might end up being the next great thing in Lowell.
Project Teams
Our core program involves community volunteers forming Project Teams to make fun projects and events happen. We start two to three new teams every year. Each team is guided by a skilled facilitator, and joining a team means making new friends, helping the community, developing skills, learning about Lowell, and broadening social networks. After a project is done, many teams keep working together, while others break apart to use their skills in new contexts. You can join a team anytime!
Current Project Teams

- Yuletide Market
- All Access Fitness
Email info@diylowell.org if you’re interested in joining a team!
Volunteer
Sometimes teams and DIY Lowell have one-day volunteer opportunities! The best way to be alerted to these is to join our mailing list, but feel free to check back on this page to see if there are any you would like to participate in!
Want to volunteer on more of an ongoing basis? We’re happy to accept helping hands photographing our events, designing flyers or media, working on our website, grantwriting, working with young people, facilitating groups, and more. If you have a special skill that you would like to share with us, please let us know at info@diylowell.org.
Join the Committee
DIY Lowell is guided by a 13-member committee, and there are often open seats! Read about the committee and mail info@diylowell.org if you’re interested. This is a great way to get involved on an ongoing basis.
