Test Page Mobile Bike Repair Idea: Get a bike trailer and stock it with tools. Set up and teach people to repair their own bikes. (Do this in public parks where there is lots of bike traffic). Use Common Wheels Bicycle Co-op as an example. Benefit: Lots of people who don’t make a lot of money use bikes to get around. Empower everyone to fix their own bikes, increase safety, and saves money for folks who need it. Location:Citywide, OldIdea. Ghost Sign Projections Idea: Lowell has many “ghost signs” on buildings where you can see remnants of a beautiful, painted, historic advertisement. Restoring them probably isn’t feasible in the short term, but we could recreate the sign on a computer and use a projector to throw the image up on the building in its original location at night. Benefit: Captures an interesting fragment of lost history, adds interesting nighttime feature making Lowell feel more active and alive after dark, and builds interest in possible larger project to restore.
