Community Center

Idea:

A space where young adults and adults alike can meet and mingle to play board games, video games, watch films, and a place for music and dance.

Benefit:

This center would give young people and adults a place to get together for positive activities. My thought for location is Bar 74 – a large space with downstairs area for games etc., and a ballroom upstairs for dance. Lessons could be given by Salsa in Lowell and others, and [Read more…]

Location:

Downtown / JAM, OldIdea.

Lowell Chess Tournament

Idea:

A national chess tournament. We would engage and plan with, the UMassLowell Chess Club and the Lowell High School Chess Club.

Benefit:

Being a site for a chess tournament would add to our offerings of diversity in culture, food, and music. It would bring people of diverse ethnic cultures together. An opportunity for people of diverse backgrounds to get together in a popular and positive activity.

Location:

Downtown / JAM, OldIdea.

Card to Culture

We are proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of organizations by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier.

Most DIY Lowell annual events are free, but often have a suggested donation. No donation is suggested for EBT, WIC, or ConnectorCare cardholders. See the complete list of participating organizations offering EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare discounts.

Special Thanks

This program is funded in part by a grant from the Lowell Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. We also express our sincere gratitude to our Cornerstone Partners:
