Edible Gardens

Idea:

Use space along the canals for access by those in need without cost other than volunteering to take care of maintenance. Use plants that require low or no maintenance (permaculture concepts). Excess produce can be used for a free farmers’ market.

Benefit:

Beautiful, edible

Location:

Acre, Downtown / JAM, Lower Highlands, OldIdea.

Oliveria Park Baseball Field Cleanup

Idea:

Clean up the trash at Oliveria Park (on Chambers and Newhall Street) and add improvements so people don’t trash it.

Benefit:

The field often has trash in it. We would like it clean and kids can play baseball there more often. It would make a nicer area.

Location:

Back Central, OldIdea.

We are proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of organizations by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier.

Most DIY Lowell annual events are free, but often have a suggested donation. No donation is suggested for EBT, WIC, or ConnectorCare cardholders. See the complete list of participating organizations offering EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare discounts.

This program is supported in part by a grant from MassHumanities; in part by the City of Lowell; and in part by the following Comet-level sponsors:
