Lowell Art Week

Idea:

See “Boston Art Week” – Week-long events with theater, dance, music, art exhibits. Cheap intro classes – glass blowing, painting on canals, paint night.

Benefit:

Community engagement, highlighting local artists and small businesses, promoting art culture.

Location:

Citywide, OldIdea.

Painted Moss

Idea:

Collect moss and blend it with a culture like buttermilk. This paste can be used just like paint and be applied to brick to create a beautiful plant-based works of art.

Benefit:

Buildings south of Market in downtown would see more foot traffic to see free public art work.

Location:

Downtown / JAM, OldIdea.

Card to Culture

We are proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of organizations by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier.

Most DIY Lowell annual events are free, but often have a suggested donation. No donation is suggested for EBT, WIC, or ConnectorCare cardholders. See the complete list of participating organizations offering EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare discounts.

Special Thanks

This program is funded in part by a grant from the Lowell Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. We also express our sincere gratitude to our Cornerstone Partners:

Lenny Zakim Lowell Cultural Council
