Boston artist Sidewalk Sam had painted peace doves in several locations. They need repainting and he has since passed away. As a former volunteer, I would love to repaint them and more in his memory.

I am contacting you today in efforts to bring light to our community. Due to a series of unfortunate events that have occurred in a very short time-span in our home of inner-city Boston, a few young people and myself are feeling torn within our communities and feel as if something should be done.
I remember when I was a little girl, there was a period of time similar to what’s going on today, when Boston’s youth were at war and teens were dying at unfair costs. Hyde Square Task Force took initiative and drew beautiful peace doves on the sidewalks to promote peace.
I have been in contact with a lot of young people, who are from inner-city Boston and in college that want to do something. They are on board with bringing back the peace doves.
Our voices should be heard.
Please let me know if you would be willing to participate.
I definitely think your effort is a great idea! DIY Lowell is a community organization focused on Lowell, so we aren’t sure how we can help. “Sidewalk Sam” painted doves in Lowell as part of a large anti-violence effort here, too.
Please let us know your plans, and I’ll try to help however I can. I’ll also get in touch with the person who suggested this idea if it helps, as well!
